CMA CGM launches Americas XL service in Chile

CMA CGM’s newly launched Americas XL service has been upgraded to weekly.

The new service began operating in the Chilean port of San Antonio, on 24 December with a fortnightly rotation and starting from 29 January, will do so on a weekly basis at the terminal operated by DP World.

The new service, “materialises our commitment to the Chilean market, offering the only direct maritime transport solution between the ports of central Chile and the east coast of the United States,” said Efrain Osorio, CMA CGM General Manager for Chile, Peru, and Bolivia during the official ceremony.

Osorio added that “to this end, we are deploying six vessels with dry and refrigerated cargo capacity with a weekly rotation offering the best transit times in the industry to the main markets to and from the United States. Our service allows us to develop short-haul markets within Latin America. ”

Efrain Osorio indicated the frequency of vessels will be regularised on a weekly basis, as from 4 February.

The Americas XL rotation – which was announced in October – includes calls at Port Everglades – Philadelphia – New York – Kingston – Buenaventura – Callao – San Antonio – Guayaquil – Cartagena – Port Everglades.

With Americas XL, CMA CGM -the world’s third largest shipping line- has six services calling Chilean ports, five of them exclusively dedicated to the country and a sixth that calls at Arica, but dedicated to the Bolivian market.
